People cling to the tangible object, material matter that can be held in the hand, labored over and preserved.

Microchip Technology Inc. on Monday raised its purchase price for Silicon Storage Inc. a second time, competing with a private-equity firm for the maker of flash memory cards used in digital cameras and MP3 players.

Chip maker Microchip has agreed to pay $3 per share in cash for Silicon Storage, a maker of flash memory cards used in digital cameras and MP3 players, up from $2.85 per share. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter.

Digital Blue has entered in an agreement with LEGO to produce a series of LEGO branded electronics such as digital cameras, video cameras, MP3 players, walkie talkies and other items. They also manufacture larger items such as boom boxes and alarm clocks. Even though these products will appear to be made of LEGO, they won’t come apart like the regular LEGO blocks do, which may be disappointing to some. But they will look pretty cool nonetheless.
