The batteries have been classified as dangerous, leading the International Civil Aviation Organisation to enact more stringent controls. This follows on the exploding laptop batteries debacle of 2006, prompting a recall, and further recalls in 2008 and 2009 . Nikon has announced the Nikon D3000, which will now replace the D40 as Nikon’s true entry-level offering. The D3000 features a 10.2 megapixel sensor, a 3 inch 230k LCD display, and an ISO range of 100-3200. It also will have the same 11 pt AF found in the Nikon D5000. The D3000 opts out of this years must have feature of HD video, which helps bring costs down, in this case a mere $600 with the AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens. Well well, Nikon managed to keep the big secret about the new D300s under wraps even as everything else was leaked in the past few weeks: the new $1,799.95 body will shoot 24fps 720p video with contrast-detect autofocus and offers an external mic input. That's basically every would-be DSLR videographer's major wishlist right there -- sure, 1080p would have been nice, but we'll take better sound over a couple more lines of resolution any day. The D300s is not just a rumour this time, it's the flagship DX-format SLR which is replacing the old D300 workhorse. Also announced alongside the D3000 and D300s was the new AF-S DX 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II lens and the new AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8 ED VR II lens.
